A mission-critical app running on some Canadian airports required to scale quickly because of a new contract in the US. The app runs initially on on-premise hardware and on single-node Docker Swarm. We updated the applications to run on Kubernetes and migrated the workloads to EKS allowing our customers to accommodate any increase in demand while adding more and more new airports to the ecosystem. We also took the codebase to the new century by using managed services like RDS, Parameter Store, Systems Manager, Secrets manager, and more, further increasing the scalability of the whole system.
