Upgrade Alert: Get Instant Version Notifications in Slack with RSS Builder
Configure RSS Builder
Go to the RSS Builder page in your web browser. - https://politepol.com/en/preview/1150842
If you don't already have an account, sign up to create one.
Once logged in, paste the URL of your Git repository into the corresponding field.
Click on "Go" to load the preview of the repository.
Here, select the "Title" option.
In the repository preview, select the field that contains the version number.
Click on "Create" to create the RSS feed.
Set slack integration
Once you have configured the RSS feed, look for the option to get the feed URL.
Copy this URL, as you will need it to integrate with Slack.
Search for the RSS option within Installed Apps and then click on App Details.
Set up the integration by selecting the option to add a new RSS Feed.
Paste the URL of the RSS feed you copied earlier into the corresponding field and select the target channel for these notifications.
Customize the settings according to your preferences by editing the name under which the notifications will be received.
Save the configuration and activate the integration.
Test and adjust
Conduct tests to ensure that notifications are delivered correctly in Slack.
Adjust the RSS feed settings as needed to improve the accuracy or relevance of notifications.
Below is an example of how a notification arrives in the configured Slack channel when a new version is detected in the configured repository.
